The Osun State Football Association (FA) has hailed the progress of Igbajo Utd, a Community-Owned Football Club, following their superlative performance in the course of the league and the subsequent playoffs.

Osun FA, in a congratulatory message signed by the Chairman, Sola Fanawopo, rejoiced with the management of Igbajo Utd, the state government, and the Igbajo Community, describing the feat as exceptional and novel.

Igbajo United emerged as the winner of Osogbo Centre of the Nationwide League One Division One, before moving to Ado Ekiti where Abray Sports was put to the sword in the first promotion playoff before capping it up with Nigeria National League status in Benin, Edo State on Sunday, following another tricky victory over fellow NLO campaigners FC Ebedei.

The statement reads: “We are thrilled for the promotion ticket picked by Igbajo Utd, we appreciate the foresight of the founding community and their doggedness in bringing grassroots players to limelight under two years of its existence.

“Classically, Osun Football has been on a trajectory of huge developments, following series of innovations experienced by the ecosystem in the state, all thanks to the board for rejigging grassroots football activities.

“We want to congratulate the victorious United, Osun State Government and Igbajo Community. These young guns deserve accolades from all and sundry, as the state will parade two clubs in the forthcoming Nigeria National League 2024/2025 Season.

“We therefore call on state government to extend the hand of fellowship to the club by rewarding the lads.”
