Residents of Aduramigba community, a suburb near Osogbo, Osun State, staged a protest on Friday, blocking the main road leading into their neighbourhood.

The demonstrators expressed deep frustration over a surge in armed robbery attacks and what they described as continuous harassment by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Several protesters recounted a harrowing night when armed robbers struck their community, stealing no fewer than 30 mobile phones, a car, laptops, and other valuables.

The attack has left residents living in fear and demanding urgent action from security agencies.

Aduramigba, located in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area but close to the state capital, has in recent months become a hotspot for criminal activities, residents lamented.

The protest disrupted traffic for hours as demonstrators carried placards and blocked the road, urging the government and security agencies to intervene.

“We are tired of living in fear. Our community has been repeatedly targeted by criminals, and to make matters worse, we face intimidation and harassment from the police who are supposed to protect us,” said one of the protest leaders.

The demonstrators called on the state government and the police hierarchy to immediately address the rising insecurity in their community and ensure the safety of residents.

Efforts to reach officials of the Osun State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful as at press time.
