Osun Councillorship Candidate Dies Weeks To LG Election

The councillorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ward 1, Ede North, ahead of the Osun State Local Government Election slated for February 22, 2025, Hon. Nurain Olobe, is dead.

Details surrounding his death remain unclear at the time of filing this report, but the news of his passing has sent shockwaves across the state, especially on social media platforms, where tributes have been pouring in.

Facebook users, particularly those close to the late candidate, have taken to the platform to express their grief and pay their respects.

“Black Tuesday 😭😭 We’ve received the sad news of the passing of Honourable Nurain Olobe. His burial will take place today at Ede Muslim Cemetery… May Allah accept his return,” wrote @Olakanmi Kehinde.

Another mourner, @Adejoke Olorin Alagaiduro-Ijoko, shared her heartbreak: “We were together last week Monday wining, dining, and jubilating. What a colossal waste and sorrowful end. May Almighty rest your soul and be with all you left behind. RIP OLOBE!”

In a similar vein, @Babatunde Shereef Abiola expressed his condolences: “Inna Lillahi Waina Ilaihi Raji’un. May the soul of Hon Nurain Olobe continue to rest in perfect peace. May God Almighty forgive him and grant him Aljannat Firdaus.”

The late Hon. Nurain Olobe was not just a politician but also a beloved figure in Ede North. His admirers described him as a dependable leader and a unifier in his community.

@Jamiu Akande, one of his close allies, mourned his loss, saying: “Rest in perfect peace HON DAU’D NURAIN AYODELE, my boss, my leader, the only person I cherish in politics at OLOBA ATAPARA Ward 1. OLOBE MERCY, the only person that gave me rest of mind in politics. Oga mi tooto, sun re ooooo.”

For many, his passing is a personal loss. @Ayodele Adegboyega shared: “I’m seriously bereaved, Olobe ke??? We did OND together at Federal Polytechnic Ede, but his sudden demise came to me this evening as a surprise. What a big loss to the entire Ede land.”
