Osun Defender’s reporter, Kehinde Ayantunji has emerged as the substantive Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Osun State Council.
He is succeeding Abiodun Olalere who resigned to contest for the union’s president at the National level in August.
Ayantunji, who has for five years served as Vice chairman of the union was returned unopposed as the Chairman at a special congress held at the NUJ Press centre, Osogbo on Wednesday.
Others office holders are; Wasiu Ajadosu of Radio Nigeria, Vice Chairman and Mr Bukola Elufadejin of Local Government Information Chapel as the Financial Secretary.
The union three men credentials committee headed by Comrade Yemi Akintunde of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) said the committee has examined the records of the new executive members and found them qualified for the offices.
Ayantunji in his acceptance speech lauded t the immediate past Chairman Abiodun Olalere for the leadership he offered, promising to build on the achievements recorded in the last five years as a member of the State Working Committee of the union.
He promised to always promote the professional and industrial interests of members and solicited their support in piloting the affairs of the union.
