The Deputy Chief Whip, State of Osun House Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi has donated Jerseys to Ayedire United Football Club.
Ogunkanmi, yesterday, handed over the Jerseys to the management of the team in Ayedire State Constituency.
Ayedire United football club comprises players drawn from all the football clubs in Ileogbo, Kuta, Oluponna and Okeosun that made up Ayedire LG ,and are representing the Local Government in the ongoing Okikiola Ramadan Cup.
Ogunkanmi while speaking to journalists at his constituency office in Ileogbo, said the gesture was to unite Ayedire Constituency through sports.
According to him, “Sports is very essential for every human life, it keeps them fit and fine and physical strength. It has great importance in each stage of life
“sports is one of the viable tools that can be used to unit deferent tribe and entity across the country. so we all needs to promote sports activities in our community to keep peace.
“Sports is a formidable force for good at the national level, positively contributing to the formation of national identity”.
He added that despite the tragedy Nigeria is facing, sports has always been a driving force to not only unite Nigerians but also as a tool to promote peace among all the diversity.
While reacting to the development, the Head Coach of Ayedire United Football Club, Akanmu Olusegun Michael, commended Ogunkanmi for his kind gesture to the Club so far and he used the medium to pray for him.
