In a bid to aid the availability of clean and safe water for his constituents, the lawmaker representing Ayedire state constituency in the State of Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi has sunk a motorised borehole in IleOgbo, headquarters of Ayedire local government.
Speaking with newsmen, the lawmaker said the aim of embarking on the project is to provide a sustainable access to safe drinking water for his people.
Hon. Ogunkanmi explained that since his assumption of office in June, 2019 and his eventual emergence as the Deputy Chief Whip of the 7th Osun Assembly, he has remained focused, determined and goal driven as well as ensure that he keeps the interest of his constituents dear to heart.
According to the legislator, the projects and other initiatives are from his personal pocket as members of Osun Assembly do not collect Constituency project allowance.
The residents commended the lawmaker for always striving to improve their standard of living in the community.
Some of the residents, Mr. Azeez Ilesanmi and Mrs. Iyabode Bello said, “We all know the significance of water in our society. There is nothing one does in life without using water, so you can agree with me that He who gives water gives life because water is life.
“Our Honourable has shown leadership in all ramifications since he got into office. He has provided scholarships, assisted many, provided water for us among other initiatives. We are really blessed to have him representing us. God will continue to be with him.”
