Residents of Odeyinka community in Irewole local government area of Osun on Thursday trooped out amidst joy and celebrations to receive the transformer donated to them by the Supervisor for Finance, Commerce and Industries, Mr Bola Oyebamiji.
The obviously elated residents of the ancient town were full of gratitude to the immediate past commissioner for finance under the Rauf Aregbesola administration for keeping to his promise of extending the dividends of democracy to them and take them out of darkness.
Speaking shortly after making the presentation, Mr Bola Oyebamiji stated that the transformer was expedient as it is the reason why government is in place is to take care of the needs of the people.
He explained that any administration that wants to succeed must take care of the needs of the people at the grassroots, noting that governance is not for people at the urban areas alone.
Oyebamiji promised that the administration of Mr Gboyega Oyetola will continue to do everything possible to make life better for all and sundary in the state of Osun.
He said, “many people think the focus of government should be for the urban centers alone, that is not correct. Government is for all especially those in our rural areas, basic amenities like electricity, water and others should be extend to the rural areas as well.
“I have decided to fulfil this promise because it is a dividend of democracy which you must enjoy, as a government, we have no other choice than to positively impact the lives of every resident of Osun”. He stated.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the community, the Baale of Odeyinka community, Chief Raimi Atanda said the community will forever be grateful to Mr Bola Oyebamiji and the Gboyega Oyetola administration for the efforts at making the people of the area to benefit the dividend of democracy.
He said the transformer when installed will no doubt boost the economic activities of the area as small and medium scale businesses will begin to spring up in the community thereby creating job opportunities.
While expressing sadness over the about 15 years of failed promises of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) on the transformer, Chief Atanda promised the support of the community for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Larry J in the state House of Assembly elections on Saturday.
“sincerely I can’t fully express my happiness and that of the entire Odeyinka community, we have been having failed promises on this transformer by the PDP for over 15 years. So it’s like a dream when Balogun Bola Oyebamiji made the promise to give us a transformer.
“We will forever grateful to him and the administration of Mr Gboyega Oyetola for keeping the promises, our community can now experience true development and we are happy.
