Wife of the Governor of Osun, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has taken up the treatment of a 15-month-old boy, Jordan Abioye who is suffering from hole in the heart disease by paying off the hospital bills for the surgery carried out on him.
Mrs Oyetola, through her pet project, IleriOluwa Development Initiative (IOD-Initiative) made the presentation during a courtesy visit to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife where the treatment of the boy was carried out.
Speaking at the presentation, wife of the governor, who is the President of the initiative, said this gesture was part of the corporate social responsibility objective of the foundation, which seeks to lend a helping hand to the less privileged in the society.
Mrs Oyetola who also gave out gift items to other patients in the hospital wards described caring and support to the needy and Vulnerable in the society as the calling of the NGO, charging all privileged Nigerians to put more efforts in assisting the less-privileged in the society most especially on health care delivery, education, empowerment as the multiplier effect to the nation is enormous.
She reiterated that the present administration in the State of Osun has put all machinery in place to rehabilitate all the health centres in the state for the people, particularly pregnant women and nursing mothers in each local government to have access to good health care delivery in their various domains, with a view to combating maternal mortality.
While speaking, the Chief Medical Director of OAU Teaching Hospital, Professor Victor Adetiloye who was represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Professor Jerome Elusiyan appreciated the kind gesture of the wife of the Governor towards the sponsorship of the patient’s bill, saying Abioye’s case was first of its kind to be treated in West Africa Hospital particularly Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital.
Professor Adetiloye commended the wife of the Governor’s effort on such huge project through the initiative in less than 100 days in office.
Mother of the patient, Mrs Mary Abioye expressed gratitude to God for the success of the surgery and also thanked Mrs Oyetola for the mercy she bestowed on her and her family, adding that God has already used the new government in Osun to favour her family.
