The Osun State Government has alleged that former Governor of the state now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola and members of his cabinet were involved in money laundering and contract racketeering during his tenure.
Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenement, Kolapo Alimi made the allegations in a live broadcast aired on radio stations in Osun State on Monday morning, monitored by OSUN DEFENDER.
The government also accused former Commissioners in the immediate past administration, including Engr. Remi Omowaiye, Prince Bayo Adeleke, Hon. Bola Oyebamiji, among others, of illegally accessing government funds through cronies.
Alimi hinted that documents relating to the claims will be presented to the public before the end of the week.

His words, “Let me use this medium to inform members of the public that we have plausible evidence and documents to back it up that the former Governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, his Commissioners for Finance – Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, Commissioner for Works – Remi Omowaiye, Commissioner for Local Government – Adebayo Adeleke Banik, their ALGON Chairman – Abiodun Samuel Idowu and others were involved in various contract rackeetering and money laundering activities during their administration.
“The claims we are making is backed up by relevant documents. We will present all of the documents very soon, between today Monday and Friday. This is not about the present situation in the state but what we have been working on for months. The revelations will be broadcast live on all radio stations in the state.
“We are also monitoring the situation at local government areas this morning and we are documenting all of the information. Saturday’s local government election will hold without any hiccup. We are on top of the situation. We are also appealing to the people to maintain law and order,” the state government held.
OSUN DEFENDER had on Sunday reported the war of words between Governor Ademola Adeleke and his predecessor Oyetola over the reinstatement of the sacked local government chairmen in the state.
While Adeleke accused his predecessor of plotting to incite violence in the state by using security chiefs to reinstate local government chairmen and councillors elected in the October 15, 2022, poll, Oyetola asked the governor to respect the rule of law on the February 10 Court of Appeal judgement on the matter.
