In a statement signed by the Coordinating Director, Osun State Civil Service Commission, Mr Marouf Olawale, the civil servants were warned to desist from turning the premises of the commission into a hawking center.

According to Olawale, any visit to the commission by any civil servant should henceforth be strictly for official reasons, to allow members of staff to perform their duties effectively without any hindrance.

The statement reads in part: “It has been observed, with dismay, that the Civil Service Commission, which under normal circumstances, should be a sacred place, has been turned to something else.

“Henceforth, all unofficial activities which include buying and selling and indiscriminate visits to members of staff and the likes are also considered inappropriate and hereby prohibited”.

Olawale explained that the commission is a body that is charged by law to handle sensitive issues such as appointment of senior officers, promotion of Civil Servants, taking disciplinary actions on erring officers among other official matters.

He noted that the premises of the commission is not a place to trade and pay undue visitation, adding that all official matters to the commission should be channeled formally through appropriate agencies of government.

“No civil servant should visit the commission personally for his/her official matter,” said Olawale.
