Osun Govt. Directs MDAs On Revenue Generation Drive

By Murtala Agboola

The Executive Council of the State of Osun has directed all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to acquire the consciousness of revenue generation as the basis for running government.

According to a brief signed by the Media Adviser to the Governor, Sola Fasure, the campaign must be sustained among all staff of government.

Fasure said that henceforth, the government would be run with the consciousness of an enterprise in which revenue must be earned before it can be spent, saying, this is the only path to overcoming the present challenges and the survival of the state system.

Noting that the council noted the ban placed on the sales of petrol and diesel engines by Britain and France with effect from 2040, he said “this effectively signals the end of oil dependent economies, making it more imperative for our state to be self-sustaining”.

He noted that the council then appealed to all residents of the state and all individuals, agencies, firms and organizations doing business in Osun to pay their taxes and other dues as their civic obligations and avoid facing the consequences of running afoul of the tax law.

Fasure also hinted that the council has approved the inauguration of seven committees comprised of council members in key areas of Civil Service Reform, Osuwon Omoluabi, Revenue Generation, Sanitation, Security and Sports Development.
