Osun Govt Dissolves Boards, Suspends Reintroduction Of Medicine In UNIOSUN

The State of Osun Executive Council has directed the dissolution of all boards of parastatals, corporations and commissions, especially those whose terms had expired.

This was part of the resolutions at the end of Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, 22 November, 2018 released to newsmen in Osogbo on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa.

The Council put on record, its gratitude, that of the entire state and the people to the Chairmen of the Governing Council of Osun State University, (UNIOSUN), Chief Mrs Folorunso Alakija for her immense contributions to the growth and development of the institution. Council noted in particular, the decision of Mrs Alakija to build a pediatric hospital for the use of the UNIOSUN community.

However, Council directed the University Management to suspend the attempted re-introduction of medicine into its schedule of programmes. Council believes that it will be better to have medicine re-introduced when it is certain that all needed infrastructure are in place.

It was the contention of the Council that it will be out of place to allow occurrence of the recent past to repeat itself and thus should have running of medicine and allied courses suspended.

Council also ratified the appointment of some monarchs and upgraded the status of some others. Council ratified the appointment of Prince Oyekanmi Mufutau Babawale Oyehan as the new Alasipa of Asipa in Ife North Local Government; High Chief Akinola Akinrera as the Olubosin of Ifetedo in Ife South Local Government Area, Prince Adejola Oluwaseyi Adeolu as the Olomo of Omo-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government.

The Council elevated the Baale of Eko Ajala in Ifelodun North LCDA to a part two Chief in accordance with the provisions of the Chiefs Law of the State of Osun, 2002; so also are the Olofatedo of Ofatedo in Egbedore South LCDA and Oniworu of Woru, Onifiye of Idado; Atapa of Itaapa; Owemolore of Odo Owemolore; Oloke Odo of Oke-Odo; Olowu of Araromi Owu were elevated like the Olunlosin of Eko Ajala.
