The state government of Osun has lost one of its prides, Alhaji Hassan Arogundade, an indigene of Ilobu in Irepodun Local Government of the state. He died on Thursday. He was 83 years old.
Alhaji Arogundade was a high fly banker, an economist and committed Osun indigene in his lifetime. He was a former Director, National Bank of Nigeria in the old Oyo state, Chairman, Ilobu Micro Finance Bank and Council Member of Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
He was known for his excellent contribution to the development of banking industry in Nigeria.
Barr. Adejare Adebisi, the Supervisor, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said in a statement that the government will continue to remember Alhaji Arogundade for his contribution to building the National Bank of Nigeria and made it a strong and reliable financial institution until economic downturn changed the situation.
We cannot forget Alhaji Arogundade’s contribution to the creation of Osun state, her economic development and that of Nigeria at large.
Alhaji Hassan Arogundade’s death is a monumental loss to the state and Nigeria at large. We will miss his intelligence, valuable advice, experience and sincerity of purpose to developmental issues.
The government commiserates with the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Asiru Olatoye, the immediate and extended family of Late Alhaji Arogundade, the people of Ilobu and state of Osun at large on the passage of one of the pride of the state of Osun.
However, the family should take solace in the good name, profile and legacy that our departed Alhaji Arogundade left behind.
The deceased has since been buried at his residence in Ilobu.
