Osun Govt Moves To Fix Dirty Erin Ijesha

Osun State Government has been prompted into action following a viral video exposing the neglect of Erin Ijesha Waterfalls, a popular tourist site in the state.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi on Tuesday announced a comprehensive upgrade of tourist sites, including Osun groove, Erin Ijesha, Owala iInland Beach Resort amomg others as part of the state’s tourism agenda.

The statement noted that the government’s decision in implementing a systemic upgrade of the tourist sites was neccesitated after decades of neglect by previous administrations.

According to rhe statement; ” The management of Erin-Ijesha Waterfall site is currently under the purview of Erin Ijesha community said the status quo is meant to ensure localisation and overall local content.”

It further said Governor Adeleke has directed the fast-tracking of renewal initiatives, including the formation of a tripartite committee for the site management.

The committee, comprising the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment, and Erin-Ijesha Community leaders, will meet on August 14 to discuss environmental maintenance and a mutually beneficial template.

Alimi assured the public that the Osun State Government, under Governor Ademola Adeleke, prioritizes tourism as part of its five-point agenda and is open to public-private partnerships.

“I want to assure the general public that the Osun State government under Governor Ademola Adeleke has a comprehensive tourism agenda which covers all our cultural and tourism sites. The meeting tomorrow will increase the phase of reforms to satisfy the aspirations of the community and tourism community”.
