The Government of Osun has expressed readiness to partner Bovas Petroleum Nigeria Limited, an Independent Petroleum Marketer, to rescue the state and its citizens from the present hardship being experienced in purchasing petrol in the state.
The state government said the partnership became necessary in a bid to end the scarcity of the product (petroleum) in the state and as well increase the supply capacity of petroleum product for distribution across the state daily.
The decision to partner the petroleum company was made known by the Governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola after a brief meeting he held with the leadership of the Bovas Petroleum Company, at Government House, Osogbo.
Governor Aregbesola said he convened the meeting as part of his administration’s effort to relief the pains being experienced by citizens, most especially Osun residents, in accessing and purchasing the product.
Aregbesola who pointed out that the state needs at least 55 trucks of 33,000 litres of petrol daily, said it is alarming to find out that the state gets less than 10 trucks per day which according to him is below what the state needs to survive daily.
Aregbesola disclosed that his government decided on the meeting with the management of the petroleum company based on the company’s impeccable track records and sincerity of purpose to humanity.
He maintained that the state decided on the step to collaborate with the company purposely because of its direct link with the NNPC, a partnership which according to the Governor had yielded positive impact in the activities of the company over the years.
The governor assured of his administration’s commitment to explore all avenues humanly possible to work with the company in a bid to improve the supply of petroleum products in every nooks and crannies of the state.
“As a government, we want to do everything possible to put an end to the protracted fuel scarcity in our state and we are ready to work with Bovas Petroleum to achieve this.
“We want to work with this company to improve on the daily supply of petroleum to our state and as well guarantee the product in every nooks and crannies of our state.
“We are setting on cause a machinery that will facilitate the realisation of our objectives to guarantee a steady supply of petrol to our people”, Aregbesola stated.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Bovas Petroleum Nigeria Limited, Mrs. Victoria Adunola Samson, commended Governor Aregbesola for striving very hard to rescue the state and her people from the present hardship being experienced in accessing and purchasing petrol in the state.
She however promised that her company would do everything possible to ensure that the state gets enough supply of petroleum products to ease the sufferings of the people of the state.
“I am really touched to find out that the governor cares for the people of the state by striving very hard to ensure that Osun gets enough supply of petroleum products to ease the sufferings of all residents whose works demand the usage of fuel, motorists and commuters.
“During our comprehensive discussion on the issue I discovered that he (Aregbesola) simply loves his people and he doesn’t want them to lack anything which is why he wants us to bring enough supply to Osun so as to halt the scarcity which is seasonally prevalent every year.
“To this end, we are ready to partner the state to increase on the supply capacity as we are promising to do our best to improve on the supply of petroleum products to Osun so as to alleviate the suffering”, she stated.
