The State Government of Osun will not waver in its commitment to ensure that Micro Small Medium Enterprise Owners benefit from its multi-various laudable programmes aimed at improving the economy of the state.
It also re-emphasized the concern of government for small enterprises in expanding their business and wealth creation through vocational training.
The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mr Ismail Jayeoba Alagbada stated this at the graduation ceremony for over 500 unemployed Youths on various skill acquisition training.
Coordinated by the Office of Wealth Creation and Enterprise as well as the MSME unit of the Office of the Governor, the 5-day programme featuring Tailoring, Red Brick Production, Fish Farming, Dodo Ikire, Locust Beans (Iru), Snail Rearing, Black Soap and Animal Feed among other craft.
Alagbada who represented Governor Rauf Aregbesola on the occasion urged beneficiaries in the scheme to be productive and make good use of the knowledge received just as he expressed the determination of the state government to provide credit facilities to the beneficiaries through veritable cooperative societies.
“My advice to the beneficiaries is to optimize the skills learnt. You must be able to start your business with little funding. And if you are interested in securing government loan, form cooperative societies among yourselves and approach government, we will surely support you.”
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Wealth Creation and Enterprise, Mr Ademola Akintoyese said the skill acquisition training is another feather in the cap of initiatives geared towards assisting Micro Small Medium Enterprises in the state of Osun.
Akintoyese maintained that although the administration of Governor Aregbesola is on its Home Run, efforts will not be spared to alleviate poverty in the state.
Facilitators of the respective skills noted the various ideas generated, skills learnt and the enormous opportunities embedded in the respective vocations learnt during the 5-day workshop.
Speaking with newsmen, participants in the training, Comrade Ago Banji, Olakanmi Oladele, Tolulope Adeniji, Sulaiman Lawal among others lauded the State Government for creating a financial breakthrough platforms for them through the training.
They also appreciated the support of the facilitators and government representatives in giving them the needed impetus to excel in their chosen vocations.
The beneficiaries promised to improve on their entrepreneurial skills and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state’s economy.
