Osun Govt Suspends College Of Technology, Esa Oke Bursar For Students Tax Increment Without Approval

Osun state government has suspended the Bursar of the Osun state College of Technology, for issuing circular for increment of tax without the approval of the state government.

A letter jointly signed by the Commissioner of Education and Special Adviser to the governor on Education, Messes Folorunso Oladoyin anf Jamiu Olawumi, said the government is not aware of the new increment in the tax by the college.

The Bursar of OSCOTECH, Mr. Ayodele L. M., in a circular titled Review of Tax Clearance Fee, said the state government has increased the tax fee from N1,500 to N3,500.

He directed the students to pay N10,500 for three years, saying each students must collect the E-payment receipt and tax certificate as evidence of payment.

But, the state government said, “the state government wishes to dissociate herself from such circular as government will never tax student.

“Where such circular has been released to the students or the academic community, the Bursar has been put in suspension  for the unilateral decision until further notice.
