The candidate of the Social Democratic Party in last Saturday’s election in Osun State, Sen Iyiola Omisore, has hinted on working with the All Progressives Congress, APC in the rerun election billed to hold on Thursday, 27th September, 2018. or the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP if they are ready to implement his programmes in Osun.
Omisore spoke after his meeting Senate President, Bukola Saraki who lead a team of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP starlwarts to his home in Ile Ife, State of Osun.
He said that he has been approached by the APC as well as the PDP.
“I have given my programmes to both the APC and the PDP. My programme is like this; payment of salaries and pensions. Good governance is what is important to me.
“Anyone among the two that will do that will get my support. I am passionate about Osun State and my interest is the welfare of the people of this state. I have told those sent to me. At the appropriate time, we will tell you where we are going,” Omisore said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared the governorship election in Osun state “inconclusive” after a thin margin between scores for two main contenders.
Rerun elections slated for September 27 in Osun are to hold in seven polling unit across four local government areas.
The Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Joseph Fuwape, said Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 254,698 votes, while Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 254, 345 votes. Senator Iyiola Omisore of Social Democratic Party (SDP) followed with 128,049.
Prof Fuwape said “Based on the results collated by the Returning Officer, the margin between the two leading candidates is 353 which is lower than the number of registered voters in the affected areas. Extant law and INEC Guidelines and Regulations provide that where such a situation occurs, a declaration may not be made.”
