Osun JUSUN Suspends Three-Month Strike
The leadership of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria in Osun State on Monday, announced the suspension of its almost three-month-old industrial action.
A statement by the chairman of Osun JUSUN, Idris Adeniran, directed judiciary staff in the state to return to work starting from Tuesday.
It would be recalled that the JUSUN leadership on September 19 directed its members to immediately withdraw their services and refrain from reporting to work in protest of unmet demands pertaining to the welfare of its members.
Previous efforts to return the union to work had failed due to the inability of the Judicial Service Commission to meet and attend to the demands of the workers.
Adeniran, while giving updates regarding efforts to resolve the crises on Monday, said, “In light of this development, I, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, JUSUN Chairman, Osun State, hereby declare that the strike action embarked upon by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Osun State Branch, since September 19, 2025, is suspended forthwith.
“The suspension will take effect from December 16, 2025, to enable members to appear before the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for the 2024 promotion exercise and to allow the management of the three sections of Osun State Judiciary to officially submit the list of 2025 promotions, which will be attended to on Wednesday, 17th December, 2025.”
On the progress made on some of the demands of JUSUN, Adeniran said the Judicial Service Commission has commenced sitting, saying, “We are pleased to report that the JSC has rectified the promotion of junior staff for 2024, and we appreciate the prompt action taken by the Commission.
“The JSC has requested that affected members of the 2024 promotion exercise appear on Tuesday, 16th December 2025. We urge all eligible members to comply with this request. The JSC has requested the list of members eligible for promotion in 2025. We are working closely with the Commission to ensure that this process is completed expeditiously.
“The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has requested that eligible members affected by the 2025 promotion exercise appear on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. All relevant members are kindly urged to comply with this request and inform their colleagues.”
