Deputy Chief Whip, State of Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi has donated sewing machines to Government Technical College, Iwo.
Ogunkanmi who represents Ayedire state constituency in the parliament presented the sewing machines to the principal of the college, Mr A. An Akande) on Tuesday.
The lawmaker while speaking, expressed his desire to improve vocational education in his constituency as a way of eradicating poverty in society.
It would be recalled that the lawmaker as part of efforts to make Youths in Ayedire State Constituency self-reliant, extended scholarships to 20 students in Government Technical College, Iwo.
He emphasized the importance of vocational education in ety saying “vocational education helps people to perform better in their jobs” adding that this will enhance them to acquire veritable skills to make money.”
Ogunkanmi added that “Vocational education is a training that equips students with practical experience and technical skills in a specific type of field that is capable of contributing to the country’s economy and make one independent.”
The lawmaker who was represented by his assistant, Teslim Adebambo assured that he would continue to give an adequate representation of his people at the state parliament.
The management of the school commended the lawmaker for his gesture for the positive impact on the lives of the students.
According to the principal, “the entire Staff members, Parents and Students are expressing our deepest appreciation for your recent donation of brand new sets of sewing machines to our College.
“We hope that this generous donation from donors like you will provide the Vocational Education and moral support needed to accomplish government mission to reduce illiteracy in the Third World Nations, reduce crime in inner cities and make youths self-reliant.
“We pray that you will receive God’s favour in your political mission and your entire life endeavour. We pray that the sky will be the beginning of your achievements.”
