As part of efforts to make education accessible for youths in Ayedire State Constituency , Deputy Chief Whip, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi on Friday paid for ten students of Community High School, Kuta that could not afford to pay for Universal Basic Education Levy.
Ogunkanmi, who represents Ayedire state constituency in the parliament had earlier expressed his desire to improve and promote education in his constituency.
The lawmaker in a media chat re-emphasized the importance of education as an instrument for societal change and emancipation.
Recall that Hon. Ogunkanmi had extended scholarships to 20 students in his constituency at Government Technical College, Iwo as a way to encourage young people in the area to seek vocational and technical education.
The parliamentarian who was briefed about the plight of the students during the school visitations by the members of Osun House of Assembly to ascertain COVID-19 compliance offset the UBEC levy of the best 3 students in the school while other 7 members of the class who had restraints in paying were also selected.
Beneficiaries including Ayodeje Nafisat, Rhaseed Alimot, Rafiu Sodiq were full of gratitude to the lawmaker who they described as a father figure and an epitome of good leadership.
