The thirty local government chairmen and that of the area office in Osun State have been directed by the state government to make adequate provision for the sinking of boreholes worth N150,000,000,00 in the 2024 budget for their respective Local Governments.
This is coming months after Governor Ademola Adeleke, claimed to have provided 332 boreholes across wards in the state.
The chairmen were also directed to include the sum of N120,000,000,00 for the renovations of schools across the Local Government and Area office in the budget.
The direction was contained in a memo signed by one Mr Tajudeen Adelabu on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, a copy obtained by Osun Defender.
In the memo titled, “Re-Year 2024 Budget Preparation Of Local Governments”, the sum of N500,000,000,00 was directed to be budgeted for roads, culverts and bridges while N20,000,000,00 is to be earmarked for the renovation of maternity centres.
The memo reads, “I am directed to refer to the above subject and inform you that all the thirty (30) Local Governments and the Area Office are advised to make adequate budgetary provision for special projects in their year 2024 Budget.
“Please note that all projects being monitored by The State Government through the Department of Monitoring and Evaluation of this Ministry should be included
“For the avoidance of doubt, the budgetary provision should include all the following: Education(Schools Renovation) N120,000,000,00; Boreholes N150,000,000,00; Road/Culvert and Bridges N500,000,000,00; and Primary Health Care (Maternity Renovation) N20,000,000,00.”
