Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration over the state government’s letter to Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamsudeen Babatunde Ogunjimi; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso, introducing the newly elected PDP chairmen and councillors across the 30 local government areas and area offices in the state.

OSUN DEFENDER earlier reports that the state government, in a letter dated March 7, 2025, through the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, had written to Fagbemi, Ogunjimi and Cardoso urging the federal authorities to recognize only the PDP-elected local government officials.

The government also noted that the APC executives from the 2022 local government election had been legally removed by a subsisting Federal High Court judgment.

The opposition party argued that there were no vacancies in Osun local governments, as the Court of Appeal had, on February 10, 2025, reinstated the local government executives elected in October 2022, who were previously sacked by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“We want to put it on record that the introduced PDP chieftains are impersonators as there was no election where such characters were elected.

“The Court of Appeal had reinstated the duly elected APC local government chairmen and councillors, yet Governor Adeleke ignored this judgment and conducted a sham election,” the statement read.

The APC also faulted Adeleke’s “hypocrisy”, recalling that after the PDP Caucus in the National Assembly sought interpretation of the Appeal Court verdict, the AGF advised the governor AR0038 – Air Jordan Super.Fly MVP PF 'White' , 100 – The outsole of the Air Jordan 5 Low Doernbecher Freestyle – JmksportShops against conducting fresh elections since the APC chairmen were yet to complete their tenure.

“It is bizarre that Governor Adeleke, who arrogantly disregarded the Attorney-General’s legal advice and went ahead with an illegitimate election, is now writing to the same Attorney-General, seeking recognition for some political deviants as duly elected local government executives,” the party said.

The APC further revealed that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) had also warned against the local government elections, citing unfavorable security reports. However, Governor Adeleke reportedly ignored the warning.

The party accused the PDP-led government of “shopping for a pliable judge” to overturn the Court of Appeal’s ruling.

“To rationalize and legitimize its brazen disregard for the Court of Appeal judgment, the Osun State Government went shopping for a pliable judge in a State High Court to upturn the decision of a superior court. It is unheard of that a judgment-debtor would approach a lower court to seek redress against a superior court’s ruling,” the APC stated.
