Osun LG Crisis: OAU Raises Security Concerns, Warns Staff

Amidst the ongoing crisis, the management of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has raised security concerns and warned its staff members against heedlessness amid the forthcoming Osun State Local Government (LG) election.
In a statement on Tuesday by the Registrar of the University, K. A. Bakare, the University management emphasized the need to be security conscious regarding the Local Government election which is scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 22nd.

According to the statement, “in view of this members of staff are advised to be cautious of their movements within and outside the state, and avoid actions capable of heightening the tension. Staff are enjoined to go about their lawful duties with a deep sense of decorum, security and peace.”
Meanwhile, OSUN DEFENDER reports that the warning comes amid the reported incidents of riots and crises related to the upcoming local government election, which have resulted in loss of lives of a certain number of individuals.
