Osun LG Election: Voters, Electoral Officials Desert Polling Units In Ile-Ife

The local government election in Osun State witnessed low turnout in major parts of Ile-Ife, as voters and electoral officials were absent from several polling units across Ife Central, Ife East, and Ife South.
A visit by OSUN DEFENDER correspondent to polling units in Parakin, Lagere, Mayfair, Eleyele, Road 7, and Sabo in Ife Central revealed empty voting centres, with no officials or electoral materials in sight from 8 am till 2 pm.
A similar situation was observed in Ife East, including polling units along Ondo Road and several locations in Modakeke, where voters failed to turn up and officials were nowhere nike ja 1 scratch nike liberty paisley air max for sale philippines – Tgkb5Shops PF – ‘Air Max 90 WW’ sneakers Nike to be found.
In Ife South, areas like Ita-Oosa and other surrounding locations also recorded a complete absence of voters and electoral officers nike revolution 7.
However, in sharp contrast, Ife North experienced a significant turnout, with residents of Ipetumodu, Moro, Asipa, and other communities trooping out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
Voter Apathy In Ife Central
Speaking with Osun Defender, a resident of Ife Central, Mr. Sola Adeniran, lamented the poor organisation of the election, stating that many people had lost faith in the process.
“There was no awareness for this election, and people are tired of voting when they don’t see any impact. I went to my polling unit at Mayfair this morning, but no official was there, so I just returned home. Many of my neighbours didn’t even bother to come out.”
Similar Situation In Ife East
A resident of Ife East, Mrs. Yetunde Oladejo, expressed her disappointment, noting that there were rumours of voting taking place the previous night.
“We heard that some people had already cast their votes overnight in certain places. By the time I got to my polling unit at Ondo Road around 10 am, everywhere was deserted. There was no OSSIEC official, no security personnel—nothing!”
Ife South Residents Stay Away
In Ife South, voter apathy remained a major concern. A resident, Mr. Kayode Omisakin, told Osun Defender that people in the area showed no interest in the election.
“Nobody was even talking about the election. Most people are in their shops or at home resting. I went to Ita-Oosa this morning, and I didn’t see a single person waiting to vote. The polling station was empty.”
High Turnout In Ife North
However, the story was different in Ife North, where voters turned out in large numbers.
A resident of Ipetumodu, Mr. Saheed Adebayo, attributed the turnout to heightened political engagement in the area.
“People here are eager to vote because they believe their votes count. Since morning, voters have been coming out in large numbers, and everything is going smoothly. Officials arrived early, and accreditation started without delay.”
Meanwhile, some residents alleged that voting had taken place the night before in certain polling units in Ife Central.
While these claims adidas i 5923 clear yellow green color sheet music could not be independently verified, they have raised concerns about the credibility of the election process in some parts of Ile-Ife.
As at press time, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) was yet to comment on the widespread absence of officials and materials in affected areas.
