Two days after Local Government Parliamentary Election was conducted in 71 wards in the State of Osun, Accord Party has accused the State Independent Electoral Commission, OSIEC of denying its party agents access to sensitive materials before the election.
The Chairman of the party Mr Segun Fanibe who spoke on a radio programme monitored by Osun Defender said he had expected that the Party agents would be called to inspect the materials the night before the election.
Alleging that OSIEC as a scam, Fanibe also accused the commission of only allowing the ruling party, The All Progressives Congress, APC, agents to inspect the materials at the polling units.
However in a swift reaction, the Chairman of OSIEC who was also on the programme, Otunba Segun Oladitan said it was not possible party agents are called to inspect sensitive materials the night before the election.
Oladitan who said the materials could only be inspected at the polling units, also denied the allegation that only APC agents were allowed to inspect the sensitive materials.
“Ask him at what point were they not allowed? Was it at the headquarters or the polling units? No political party was disallowed from inspecting the materials and you can only inspect at the polling units not the night before. If you are not satisfied, let’s meet at the tribunal.”
Reacting to Accord Party Chairman’s claim that the ballot papers arrived late at some polling centers, Oladitan stated that there is no election where the materials arrive on time.
