Osun LG Poll: Court Adjourns Suit Seeking To Stop Election

The Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, the State of Osun, has adjourned the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to stop the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) from conducting local government elections to September 29.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had asked the Court to stop OSIEC from conducting the local government elections slated for October 15, 2022.

The State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal, Akure, asking the Federal High Court to stay of proceedings which PDP counsel opposed.

According to Barr. J.A Ayanyemi, counsel to OSIEC, said the court in its wisdom has adjourned the matter till Thursday, September 29, noting that “OSIEC has filled an appeal at the Court of Appeal, Akure, as a mater of fact, the case has been given number. All we are telling this honourable court is to stay of proceedings to allow the higher court to hear our case.”
