Osun LG Poll: Group Hails Parliamentary System Of Govt.

A socio political group, Oranmiyan Democrats has hailed the initiative of Governor Rauf Aregbesola in introducing parliamentary system of government at the local government level, saying the innovation will save the government from huge spending.

The National convener of the group, Atunluse Titilola Moshood who gave the hint while speaking in Osogbo, said the system apart from saving the cost of governance at the local level, will also bring government closer to the people at the grassroots.

He maintained that the system is good for Nigeria’s democracy at a critical time the world is battling with economic crisis.

Titilola also said the parliamentary system of government will also enhance credible distribution of dividends of democracy to the downtrodden and thereby save the people from penury.

He then applauded the peaceful conduct of the people in the just concluded local government election, saying the people displayed the Omoluabi ethos the state is known for during the exercise.

The convener of the group also gave kudos to the security operatives and the umpire for their uprightness before, during and after the election.
