Beneficiaries of the Federal Government Youth Empowerment programme, N-power, in Ilesa East Local Government Area of Osun State have drummed support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
They said the move was their way of appreciating the president for delivering on his campaign promises of employing 200,000 youth since December 2016.
The beneficiaries who marched to the state secretariat in their numbers to make their positions known also pleaded with the president to retain them so as to sustain the tremendous changes witnessed.
According to the N-Power Ambassador, Ayodimeji Daniel, the programme has impacted positively on the locality in the area of Agriculture, Education and health sector.
He said: “As a result of the impact of the N-Agro volunteers, farmers have acquired more knowledge in handling crops which has led to better pest control and consequently improved crop yield.
“The presence of N-Teach volunteers has boosted the efforts of permanent teachers in teaching students in secondary school across the state efficiently and effectively. The patients in government hospitals across the state now have access to better healthcare as more hands were available through the N-health volunteers”.
Receiving them, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Federal Matters, Abimbola David enjoined the volunteers to remain committed to the scheme, saying that they should see it as a service to their community .
He said those absent from work would not have a hiding place, as the programme would this month begin monthly clearance for the volunteers, adding that anyone who can’t cope should opt out.
He urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the president is re-elected so that they can continue to benefit from the programme.
