THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command, has called for synergy among security agencies and the public in the fight against criminal activities and maintenance of law and order in the society.
The NSCDC appealed to residents of the state to always share timely and credible information and intelligence that would help curb insecurity with it.
Mr. Emmanuel Ocheja, the Commandant of the NSCDC in the state made the appeal on Tuesday, in Osogbo during the 2022 International Civil Defence Day.
According to Ocheja, timely information sharing and intelligence would aid the command in operating a safe and secure security apparatus that would tame all vices in the state.
He said: “I believe if we are able to share proactive information, some of these miscreants, hoodlums and mischievous individuals causing mayhem would be tamed, and the state will be safe and free for all.
“There is nothing you can do without synergy. What we do in Civic Defence, especially in the area of volunteers, is that once they give us any information, we work on the information and give it out to other sister agencies”.
Ocheja also charged men of the force to work hard in defending the people of the state, adding that failure to do so means negligence of duty.
He said the command would not relent in carrying out its established mandate, which is the protection of lives and property in the state.
“As we are celebrating this day, my call today is that we must manage our entire environment. It is our mandate to be there for everybody. If we are not defending the entire populace, then we are not doing our work”.
“The command is trying its best in ensuring a safe community and we are not going to make it easy for criminals out there as we are not relenting in the protection of lives and property”, he added.
