The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command while celebrating this year children’s day , promised to step up his fight against child abuse and gender based violence that have become the order of the day in the society.
Commandant Ocheja made the disclosure at the State Headquarters, in Osogbo on Friday.
He reaffirmed the readiness of the newly inaugurated Special Female Squad in the fight against any form of child abuse and gender based violence.
According to the Commandant, children are gifts from God, therefore, the future of the country needs to be protected against any forms of threat of abuse and gender based violence.
He stressed the needs for all stakeholders to rise and join hands with the Corps to create an environment safe for all children.
Commandant Ocheja said, “As a parent, having children is one of the most significant things that can ever happen to you. As a teacher, it’s your utmost duty to educate them in a way that makes them better citizens and future leaders. Every child is special regardless of tribe, religion and background.”
He applauded the contributions of teachers, caregivers and parents for impacting knowledge and for their selflessness. Commandant Ocheja emphasized the importance of teachers and parents in shaping the future of our children in the Country. He, therefore, enjoined them to protect their children and wards from immoral and anti-social activities.
CC Ocheja further explained that the Corps will build on its present achievements to create a more secure and promising society for the development of every child.
