A 40-year-old man, Jide Fadipe, has been arrested by the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for allegedly vandalising a government primary school building at Ilaje-Area, Ilesa, Osun State.

The suspect, a resident of Ilaje-Area, BJ4 Ilesa, according to a statement by the state NSCDC spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, was apprehended on Tuesday, 4th June 2024.

Adaralewa said the command subsequently mounted surveillance around the school area to apprehend the perpetrators.

“On Tuesday, 4th June 2024, the suspect was seen around 5 am, removing the roofing sheets. He, thereafter, moved the stolen items down to his house and was apprehended while he was trying to sell the materials to metal scraps buyers in Ilesa, Osun State,” he said.

The Commandant said, Section 451 of the Criminal Code law Cap 34, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, states that “any person who wilfully and unlawfully destroys or damages any property is guilty of an offence and is liable”

Adaralewa assured members of the public that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law, to serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of destroying government property.
