Osun NSCDC Nabs Man Over N570,000 Visa Scam

THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), State of Osun Command, Tuesday, paraded a 40-year-old man, Bola Awolumate, for allegedly duping people on the pretence of obtaining visa for them.
According to the state commandant of the NSCDC, Adisa Agboola, the suspect who resides in Abesu area of Osogbo, duped his victims to the tune of N570,000.
Agboola said he obtained the sum by promising to help them procure Norway and Saudi Arabia visa.
The NSCDC commandant said the suspect, upon investigation, volunteered a confessional statement confirming his culpability in the offences, adding that he will be charged to a court to serve as deterrent to others.
Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER, the suspect who confessed to have committed the crime, said he used the money to take care of personal affair, adding that he has no means of getting the Visa for the victims.
He said, “I am not an immigration officer. This is my first time of committing this offence. I have no means of going about the visa processing and I also do not have anyone to help me out with it. I just collected the money for personal use.
“It was my neighbor that introduced me to his brother and colleague at work and that was how I met these two victims. My neighbor asked me to help them to do visa which I agreed to do.
“I am jobless and married with kids. My family is based in Ibadan while I reside here in Osogbo. I came to Osogbo in search of job. I am from Ekiti State.
