The Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has commended the state Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for approving the rehabilitation of the council’s hall and the provision of a bus for the union.
The union described the governor’s gesture as a welcome development, saying it would go a long way toward enhancing journalism practice in the state.
This was contained in a communiqué issued on Thursday, at the end of its monthly congress held at the council secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
It also called on the spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, to facilitate the release of the funds and the bus to the union.
The Congress also appealed to the Osun State Government to do well to remember the media through the NUJ State Council whenever palliatives are shared to groups in the state by the government. It noted that the NUJ has 280 members who should be captured in the distribution of palliatives.
It, however, commended Governor Adeleke for the six new digital transmitters procured for OSBC Radio, and the new television transmitter and equipment that will soon be delivered to OSBC Television.
