A strong member and currently the Caretaker Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Osun State, Hon. Rauf Fakorede, has dissociated himself from membership of the Osun State Park Management Committee.
Fakorede in his letter of withdrawal on Sunday, a copy made available to OSUN DEFENDER stated the reasons he is withdrawing his membership from the committee is focus more in rebuilding the NURTW in the state.
He urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to review the suspension of the union’s activities in the state.
The letter read in part: “having served and attained the leadership of our great union in the last forty years, I feel highly constrained to inform the whole world most especially our teaming members in the state and in the entire federation who have remained steadfast and have proven their unalloyed support and commitment to this union that in good conscience and utmost good faith have rejected the membership of the above committee considering the shabby treatment meted out to our union through the suspension of our union activities throughout the state.
“This decision of mine has nothing to do with my membership of our great party, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) which our union allows but basically to concentrate on the rebuilding, restructuring and re-engineering of our union in the state which is no distant future will take its rightful place.
“I must use this medium to appreciate all stakeholders in the transportation system in the state for finding me worthy of this appointment and above all I want to sincerely thank our amiable Governor, His Excellency Governor Ademola Adeleke for his effort in transforming the transportation sector in the state and most importantly to have a second look at the suspension of the union activities in the state.
