A chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Osun State, Kazeem Oyewale, has denied allegations that he attempted to kill the son of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Adebayo Adeleke.

The Osun State Government, through the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, had alleged that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt allegedly linked to hoodlums said to be loyal to Oyewale.

According to the government, the incident occurred around the Oke-Fia area, close to the Osun Government House in Osogbo.

However, speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Monday, Oyewale described the allegations as false and threatened to seek legal redress against the state government.

The APC member called on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to protect him and his supporters from alleged harassment.

“I want to call the attention of President Bola Tinubu, the IGP and Nigerians. They should come to my aid because the governor and Kolapo Alimi have called for my arrest over untrue allegations, and they are even threatening me,” he said.

Oyewale alleged that his younger brother was killed in November 2022, adding that the corpse had yet to be released to the family.

“They have been trailing me and want to kill me. They are lying against me, making claims that they cannot substantiate, among which is the allegation that I want to kill the governor’s son,” he added.

He also denied involvement in the alleged destruction of billboards in the state, insisting that he had no connection with the Accord Party.

“I am a member of the APC. What is my business with Accord? Any time something goes wrong within their party, they will blame me for it,” Oyewale said.

He further urged his supporters not to panic, alleging that authorities were attempting to intimidate members of the NURTW ahead of the Osun governorship election.

Governor Ademola Adeleke had in November 2022 proscribed the union, citing alleged unresolved internal conflict within the union.
