Developments in the state on Saturday covered politics, law, education and sports related issues. The following items shaped the discourse today on both local, mainstream and social media.
1: No fewer than four indigenes of Osun state have been conferred with the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), OSUN DEFENDER reports.
They are Messrs Kazeem Adekunle Sobaloju, Bamidele Olawoye, Adedayo Samuel Adedeji and Yemi Adewale Mu’sbaudeen Adesina.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the four indigenes were among the 58 legal practitioners who were conferred with the SAN title by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee.
While reacting to the development, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke in a congratulatory message signed by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, extolled them as exceptional professionals who have distinguished themselves in the legal field, noting that their promotion to the SAN title is a true reflection of their capacities.
2: OSUN State House Of Assembly Committee on Sports has disclosed that a new salary proposal for the State football teams will be reviewed before the season kick-starts.
The committee led by the chairman, Hon. Jeremiah Awoyeye, disclosed this during a facility tour to the Osogbo Township Stadium, on Wednesday.
Awoyeye noted that the new salary proposal is already on the table and will be appropriated any moment from now.
The Chairman stated that the aim of the tour is to bring back to life dying and moribund parts of the edifice with a view to giving facelift to the facilities.
Awoyeye, while addressing newsmen after being conducted round the arena, frowned at the poor condition of the stadium, saying it suffered neglect with zero investments by past administration.
