The State Government of Osun has projected live transmission of this year Osun Osogbo Festival over the spike of COVID-19 third wave.
It was gathered that the Tourists from outside State of Osun to this year’s Osun Osogbo festival have been urged not to attend this year’s festival to prevent the spread of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
This was said by the State Commissioner For Culture & Tourism, Hon. Obawale Adebisi, while addressing Journalists in Osogbo.
He added that a platform to make the event ‘Live’ and ‘Virtual’ has been set-up.
The Commissioner urged the tourists to bear with the state Governments urging those that will follow the votary maid to the grove to observe COVID-19 safety especially social distancing and the use of face masks.
He said Government will resist plans by any individual under the guise of celebrating the 2021 Osun-Osogbo Festival, to take advantage of the grand finale of Osun Osogbo Festival, to harass or intimidate the Osun worshippers, disturb public peace or to discredit the integrity of the festival.
Obawale Adebisi also advise parents and guardians to warn their wards and children not to be commissioned for any civil and or criminal acts saying anyone caught would be made to face the full weight of the law.
