Osun Police Apprehends 8-Man Motorcycle Stealing Syndicate

The Osun State Police Command has arrested eight suspected members of a notorious motorcycle theft syndicate operating within and outside Osogbo.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests were made on April 11, 2025, by operatives attached to the Commissioner of Police’s Monitoring Unit.

According to the statement, Mojeed confessed to being part of a syndicate that specializes in stealing motorcycles from where they are parked.

Acting swiftly on this lead, operatives moved to the Shasha area of Osogbo around 8:30 pm the same day, where another suspect, 38-year-old Hammed Jelili, was arrested. Police recovered six spare motorcycle keys from his hideout.

The trail then led detectives to Brewery area in Ibadan, Oyo State, where they apprehended the alleged receiver of the stolen motorcycles, 64-year-old Oguntade Segun. He reportedly admitted to buying at least four motorcycles from the syndicate, with prices ranging between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000.

“Discreet investigation led the Operatives to Brewery area, Ibadan, Oyo State where the receiver of the stolen Motorcycles, one Oguntade Segun ‘m’ 64 years was arrested and confessed to have bought four different makes of Motorcycles from them at a price ranging from two hundred and fifty thousand naira only (#250,000) to three hundred thousand naira only (#300,000).

“Further investigation led to the arrest of Arobadi Michael ‘m’ 30 years who always deliver the stolen Motorcycles to the receiver.”

DSP Ojelabi said the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
