Osun Police Arrest 10 Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Five Guns, Vehicles, Motorcycles

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 10 suspected criminals who allegedly engaged in cultism and kidnapping in the state.

The suspects, including nine males and one female, are – Adebayo Olalekan (27), ‎Hammed Abdullah (47), Olajide Opeyemi (34), Olushola Samson (24), and Salako Opeyemi (20).

Others are Majekodunmi Shefiu (32), Ganiyu Yusuf (24), Ridwan Temitope (25), Taofeek Yusuf (25), and Babafemi Adelowo (28) years.

Addressing journalists at the police command headquarters, Osun Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, said the suspects were arrested at a lounge in Moro, Ife North Local Government Area of the state on the 25th of October, 2025.

According to the Gotan, some members of the public had reported that the suspected criminals were shooting sporadically.

The Commissioner of Police said a team from the Police Rapid Response Unit (PRU) mobilized to the scene, adding that the suspects, on sighting the Police team, opened fire, but were repelled.

Gotan said the owner and supervisor of the lounge were on the run, adding that exhibits recovered from the scene include five guns, five vehicles, and 10 motorcycles.

He said, “Upon receipt of the information, a team of Police Rapid Response Unit (PRU) operatives, led by the Commander, swiftly mobilized to the scene and on sighting the Police team, the suspected evil doers opened fire, but our gallant officers responded decisively and successfully repelled the attack without any casualty.

“‎A search and mop-up operation was conducted at the scene, which led to the arrest of ten (10) suspects and the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, vehicles, and motorcycles. The supervisor and owner of the Lounge have been on the run.”

‎Similarly, Gotan disclosed that operatives of the command arrested one Lekan Jamiu, who is an alleged known thug and member of a criminal gang operating within Osogbo and its environs.

The Osun Police boss said, “On the 25th October, 2025, at about 4:00pm, operatives of the Anti-Thuggery of the Command, while on routine township patrol within Osogbo metropolis, arrested one Lekan Jamiu.

“The suspect was intercepted in a suspicious manner, and a search conducted on him led to the recovery of the following exhibits: locally made pistol, four live cartridges, 12 9mm live ammunition,
quantities of substances suspected to be indian hemp and assorted charms.

“‎Preliminary investigation reveals that, the suspect is a known thug and member of a criminal gang operating within Osogbo and its environs.”
