The state of Osun Police Command has warned all political parties against any clandestine political campaign or rally towards the 2022 Gubernatorial election in the state
The command in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola said all political rally or campaign held across the state under the guise of political meeting is against the electoral acts of 2010; as the political campaign is yet to kick-start.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Olokode warned that any political party flouting the order will be made to face the wrath of law.
The statement reads, “As the Osun State Gubernatorial Electoral process and political activities generally gather momentum, Osun State Police Command is constrained to draw the attention of all Political Parties in the State to the series of clandestine rally/campaign being held across the State under the guise of Political party meeting, which is against the rule of electoral acts 2010; as the political rally/campaign is yet to kick start.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, psc wishes to remind all Political actors in the State that such acts especially in this fragile festive period could cause the breakdown of law & order, and urged the Politicians to play the game as stipulated in line with the Electoral Acts 2010.
“Therefore, any political party flouting this order/warning will henceforth be made to face the wrath of the law.
“The CP solicits for the understanding of all political parties and requests strong synergy between the Police and members of the public, in order to sustain the peaceful and serene environment currently being enjoyed in the state”.
