Following the declaration of war against criminal elements in Osun by the new Commissioner Of police, CP Faleye Olaleye, the Osun Police Command on Tuesday paraded 106 suspects.
CP Faleye in a press briefing on Tuesday, vowed to combat criminals in Osun, announced the arrest of 106 criminals.
The criminals with exhibits recovered were paraded at the Osun state Police command in Osogbo, State of Osun.
Faleye while speaking with journalists on each cases, the Osun CP Olaleye reveals that On 31st October 2022, one Hammed Kazeem ‘m’ and Olaniyi Tayo ‘m’ were apprehended by Anti-Cultism team at Service Area, Osogbo where they were in a bid to sell one unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle.
According to the Police, the suspects confessed to the crime in which a motorcycles dealer shop located opposite Baptist High School, Iree, Osun was burgled, three new unregistered motorcycles were carted away and two other motorcycles were removed/stolen from where they’re parked.
Similarly, On 31st October 2022 during a stop and search along Islaudeen/Ayekale Road, Osogbo, the police operatives from Anti-Thuggery squad apprehended one Olaleye quadri ‘m’ a notorious and deadly member of Eiye confraternity and a gang member of Rasheed Oko Ilu, the serial killer squad who has been terrorizing people of Osogbo & Ede environs.
After series of interrogation, the suspect confessed to the multiple killings that happened in Osogbo metropolis on the 7th of August, 2022 after the killing of Taju Rabiu popularly known as Spanner on 6th August, 2022 at Ilesa Garage, Osogbo.
He said, “One locally made revolver pistol and one expended ammunition was recovered at his hideout at old garage, Osogbo.
“During a raid operation at a dreaded hideout around Isanlu via Modakeke road, Osun State , some hefty groups of people were sighted running into the bush immediately they observed the presence of the police within the territory and they were chased but escaped.
“Thirty bags Of weeds suspected to be indian hemp, cash sum of one hundred and ten thousand naira, One Techno T402, a black bag containing clothing’s were recovered.
“Three other criminals Ojo Gbadebo ‘m’ aged 40yrs, Babatunde Amuse ‘m’ aged 37yrs and Isola Isah ‘m’ aged 38yrs were apprehended at Oke-Ana Iwaraja/Erinmo via Ijebu-Jesa, the residents complained about perceiving unpleasant odour in their community.
“Immediately, the police operatives attached to Ijebu-Jesa Division, Vigilantes and community members combed the area and during the search, a big black polybag containing decomposed flesh suspected to be human parts was found in the house and premises of Ojo Gbadebo.
“On 3rd November, 2022, the police operatives from Prompt Response Unit stormed a criminal hideout around Idasa Area, Ilesha, Osun State where hoodlums were sighted in numbers smoking/selling Indian Hemps. Consequently, the swift response of the officers led to the arrest of two suspects Adebayo Adetope ‘m’ aged 27yrs and Ayobami Ojo ‘m’ aged 28yrs, Weeds , substances, cash sum of forty-seven thousand two hundred naira were recovered during the operation.
“In a different case, 26-year-old Habeeb Sobowale, a notorious armed robber who have been terrorizing Osogbo and its environs was artested on 5th November, 2022.
“The suspect was one of the three (3) unscrupulous elements that were intercepted by the operative sometime September, 2022 along Testing Ground Area, Osogbo while on Bajaj motorcycle with registration number SGB 375 UM and immediately they abandoned the said motorcycle along with a black bag containing criminal charms and run away.
“Exhibit recovered from him are two locally made pistol, two live cartridges, one black bag containing local charm and one black bajaj motorcycle.
“Additionally the case of Adewumi Adewale was disclosed, the police force revealed that.
“On 7th November, 2022, Police Operatives from Ejigbo received a distress call from the victim that, an armed robbery gang is operating within his premises, explaining that the miscreants went away with the sum of N2.8m which he uses for his POS business. Upon receiving the information, the DPO led a patrol team to the scene of crime and upon arrival, the Police operatives arrested one who was found with a locally made pistol and live cartridge when he was searched.”
He stated that the coordinated raids carried-out, many suspects were arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.
He said the suspects were screened, investigated and those found not wanting were released while the following suspects were found culpable.
Exhibits recovered from the raids are
locally made single barrel gun, large quantity of weed, charms and knife
large quantity of hard drugs, various types of criminal charms and two stainless short cutlasses.
CP Faleye said that all the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
