By Solomon OdeniyiPolitical Parties under the auspices of the Alliance of Collaborating Political Parties have accused the Peoples Democratic Party of indulging in electoral misdemeanour capable of discrediting the just concluded gubernatorial election in Osun.
They are alleging the PDP of corruptly influencing voters, security and electoral officials.
The parties which contested the Osun election are also accusing the PDP of bringing fake voters, thugs, who impersonated journalists and observers from Kwara state.
The group maintained that the arrest of no fewer than 16 card carrying members of the PDP who were pretending as observers, journalists and voters, in possession of INEC accreditation and other insignia of election observers and PVC not issued to be used in the voting polling units exposed the main opposition party.
The ACPP noted that they were aware of bogus votes returned from Ede, the hometown of the PDP candidate.
Meanwhile, the group endorsed the election and its outcome, describing it as a legitimate and a reflection of the true wish of the people.
The statement signed by chairman of the group, Prince Adesoji Masilo reads in part , “ We must let you know however, that we are appalled at the monetization of this election by the PDP. While the rest of us were busy fashioning out strategy on how to connect with the people, the PDP was busy spending money to buy voters’ cards, buy votes and corruptly influencing security and electoral officials. This is illegal and we condemn it in its entirety.
