Remains of a staff of Osun state College of Technology, Esa Oke, Tope Olaniyi, killed last week by suspected kidnappers near the campus of the institution, was on Tuesday buried.
Late Olaniyi was buried in his house in Iloko-Ijesa after an emotion-laden internment service attended by friends, colleagues and family members of the deceased.
It would be recalled that Olaniyi, while returning from work on Tuesday, December 4, was killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen, who later abducted five other workers and three students of the institution.
While three students and a staff kidnapped were released without payment of ransom same day they were abducted, four other staff held by the abductors only regained freedom after payment of N4million ransom.
In his sermon, Pastor Enoch Ayodeji of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Province 3, Ilesha, charged people to always be prepared for death.
He said, the late Olaniyi lived a good Christian life, even when he never expected death would come for him at the time he died.
OSCOTECH Deputy Rector, Dr. Elandia Johnson, who represented the management of the school at the service, described the deceased as ‘cheerful, trustworthy and dedicated worker’, saying the institution would miss his services.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Pastor David Agboola, said the deceased, who was until his death a doctorate student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, had ambition to study Law.
He said the late Olaniyi was the breadwinner of his family and had aged parents and many siblings looking up to him while alive, calling on the employer of the deceased not to abandon the family.
