The Nigerian Police Force has rated Osun as one of the safest states in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Police Force spoke through the Acting Inspector General of Police, Zone 11 (Osun, Oyo and Ondo state commands), Mr. Adeleye Oyebade in Osogbo while on a courtesy visit to the Governor, State of Osun, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola on Wednesday in his office.
Flanked by the State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, AIG Oyebade described the Governor as a complete gentleman who gives priority to the security of lives and property of the people of the state of Osun.
He appreciated the state government of Osun for supporting the police at all times, especially during the general elections held recently.
The police boss informed the governor that sequel to the approval of the Inspector General of Police, a security stakeholders forum will soon be held where strategies will be mapped out for community policing, stressing that participants in the security stakeholders forum are expected to identify the flash points and suggest ways of combating heinous crimes like armed robbery, kidnapping, etc.
Responding, Governor Gboyega Oyetola appreciated the nigerian police force for the wonderful job they did during the gubernatorial poll last year and this year’s general elections, maintaining that security is very germane to development, hence his administration will continue to support the police and other security agencies in the state of Osun.
Present at the event were Deputy Governor, Mr. Benedict Alabi, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji and members of the state steering committee as well as top echelon of the Nigerian Police Force, Zone 11 Command.
