Osun To Launch Security Trust Fund March – Governor Adeleke
Governor Ademola Adeleke, has announced that Osun State would be launching and unveiling its Security Trust Fund in March 2026.
This was just as he flaunts his equitable implementation of projects and programmes across the state.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, noted that Adeleke made the announcement on Saturday at the commissioning of a modern police station built by AIG (Dr) Aderanti Kayode at Oyan town.
The governor stated that the launch was to mobilise resources to strengthen the security of the state.
Advocating the urgency of public-private partnership in maintaining state and national security, Adeleke noted that Nigeria is presently challenged in the security sector while Osun, though one of the safest states in Nigeria, is placed within an axis that poses potential threats to its security.
According to the Governor, security challenges are intensifying at a time of limited state financial capacity, noting that governments at all levels are under pressure to provide adequate equipment and logistics for the various security agencies.
“The situation has led to the government seeking alternative routes to security financing. Many state governments launched dedicated security trust funds. Others applied budgetary percentages for financing.
“Osun State is about to join the league of states with a security trust fund. By next month, our government will be launching the fund”, Governor Adeleke assured.
As part of preparation for the take off, the Governor narrated that the enabling law for the fund has been reviewed and signed into law, adding “we reviewed the extant law setting up the trust fund to insert modern trends and futuristic postulations.
“We are pulling the movers and shakers of the private sector to Osun to support our initiative. The take-off of the fund will provide resources to support security agencies across Osun state.
“Aside from strengthening conventional security services, it will provide support bases for Amotekun security service, the hunters and the neighbourhood watch,” the Governor assured.

Speaking further, Adeleke slammed the opposition All Progressives Congress for refusing to acknowledge monumental infra development ongoing across the state.
“The opposition is still at a loss about huge progress on road dualisation and road construction at Ila, Ikirun, Iwo, Osogbo, Ofatedo, Ido-Osun, Ile-Ife, Ilesa, and other parts of the state.
“We sympathise with the Osun APC because while it chooses to be blind to progress across our towns and villages, Osun people are uploading and appreciating their new, improved, better life under the Imole administration.
“If Osun APC likes, it can hold onto its self-denial and its melancholic tantrums borne out of depression, disappointment and sadness over its rejection by the people even before election date”, the Governor was quoted as saying.
