As Osun state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sets to deliver its judgment on the September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretary, Hon Rasak Salinsile has called on members of the ruling party to remain calm, saying there is no cause for alarm.
Salinsile in a press statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, on Wednesday, expressed optimism that the members of the party would have no cause to feel downhearted.
It would be recalled that Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, had challenged the victory of the All Progressives Congress flag bearer, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, in the September 22, Osun gubernatorial election.
However, the election Petition Tribunal in a letter sent to all the parties involved in the matter expressed its readiness to give its verdict on the matter this week Friday, March 22, 2019.
The immediate past Chief of Staff to the governor while urging people of the state especially members of the party to remain calm and peaceful said there is no need for them to be worried about what is likely to be the outcome of the judgement, saying the people of the state has spoken through their votes.
Expressing confidence that, the will of the people who had trooped out en masses to cast their votes for APC during the gubernatorial poll would not be pacified, Salinsile said ‘we shall all rejoice come Friday by God’s grace’
He urged the party loyalists to pray fervently for Governor Oyetola’s victory at the Tribunal, saying ‘we believe so much in efficacy of prayer and with prayer nothing is impossible’.
He said, ” Tribunal will deliver its ruling on Friday and our party would be vindicated. The people of Osun have spoken through their votes , they turned out massively during the gubernatorial election to elect Governor Oyetola, so there is no cause for alarm.
“I am very optimistic that the Tribunal judgement will favour us but I still want to urge our supporters to be fervent in prayer, this is imperative because we cannot afford to take the state which has been experiencing unprecedented development in the last eight years back to abject poverty and penury.
“Since we are on the right side of justice, victory is guaranteed. We all know the disheartening state of infrastructure before the inception of the immediate past Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The state economy has been in comatose, but when APC led government came to power, the state has developed tremendously.”
