A leading aspirant contesting the governorship seat in Osun under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Elder Peter Babalola has said the aggressive agitation witnessed in the build up to the forthcoming September 22 election in the state from the west senatorial district is an indication that everyone from the area has woken from their deep slumber.
He added that politicians from the west senatorial district have all gone back to the drawing board to sensitize and mobilise the people not only to participate in the concluded continuous Voters exercise but to also collect their Permanent voters Card.
He spoke during a chat with the medium in his resident.
He said, “If you do your study very well you will discover the collection rate of PVC is high in the west, and a large per cent of the new eligible voters are from the west. Also, Politicians from the west senatorial district have gone back to the drawing board sensitizing people to go and mobilize not only to register but collect their PVC they are doing this because of their expectation.
“Everyone from the zone including the politicians from the west has woken from their deep slumber. The central has had their share, they ruled for 11 years. The east held sway for eight years and the west has none. Except you want to count the 22 months of Adeleke which cannot be compared to the number of years spent by the other zones.
“Even heaven knows west should present the next governor. If you call it zoning fine, if you say it’s from the mind or fair share, whatever is fair is fair. This is responsible for the massive registration in the west and the entire state”.
Peter-Action as popularly called maintained that alienation of a fragment of a society from the whole will over time breed conflict as the affected part would feel they are alienated and not part of the existing society.
Alluding to Ogun state which has zoned to the west and Oyo to the east their next governors, he said this was done in fairness to every zone in the aforementioned states, describing it as a tactical approach to carry everyone along in the state and must not be found guilty of this.
He stressed that there is zoning in the country’s constitution as well as that of the party which according to him must follow a process in form of an unwritten convention.
The aspirant who lauded the incumbent governor for the development witnessed in the state so far despite the paucity of funds, noted that, “He has no manifesto other than to build on the legacy set by Ogbeni Aregbesola which encompasses every aspect of the economy, adding that what Ogbeni has started, if successive administrations continue to build on, will act as a catalyst for the transformation of the state beyond recognition in the years to come”.
He said the exercise he has acquired over the years as someone who has served under military and civilian administrations are weighty, saying he is perfectly fits into Aregbesola’s shoes in order to achieve the much needed objective of continuity.
