Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo, has assured workers in the state that a new minimum wage agreement will be reached before the end of November.
In a video shared on the X handle of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s New Media Assistant, Gbenga Lawrence, the labour leader expressed optimism about the ongoing negotiation process with the state government, while urging workers to remain patient and trust in the leadership of the union.
According to Comrade Arapasopo, while the state government has demonstrated commitment to addressing the plight of workers, the NLC is determined to secure the best possible deal for its members.
“The response we’ve been having from the government, honestly speaking, they are trying their best, but we are still pushing for more so that at the end of the negotiation we would be able to put smiles on the faces of workers,” he said.

He further emphasized the importance of a thorough negotiation process, stressing that any agreement reached would be binding on all parties involved.
“When it comes to negotiation, you don’t rush. Anytime you sign an agreement, it is binding on all parties. We don’t want to rush so that we won’t disappoint the masses,” he explained.
The NLC chairman reassured workers that their patience would not be in vain, promising a favorable outcome in a matter of weeks.
“We know what everyone is facing, but we are telling them to remain calm, we won’t disappoint them. We are coming with the best because we are also working on the best. We believe that before the month runs out, we will come out with a good figure,” Comrade Arapasopo concluded.
