The family of Mr Ganiyu Olawoore, the Doctor who was reported to have died a result of shock arising from the August 5 flood in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun has refuted the report.
According to the deceased’s first daughter, Kafayat Olawoore, her father died peacefully in his Ayetoro home and not as a result of the flood which ravaged his house at Railway line.
She said in a statement, “My father, Mr Olawoore, did not die as a result of shock as published. Neither did he die as a result of the flood that entered our house.
“It is true our house at Railway line was flooded in the middle of the night on August 5, and we had to rush out of the house but that was over a month ago. The next day after the flooding, we moved to our already completed and furnished one storey building at Ayetoro.
“While the floor building was being used as office (and Daddy has been using it as office as far back as last year), we packed into the first floor and that was what Daddy built it for, it is a three bedroom flat.
“So the story of converting his office into a residential apartment is not true and he wasn’t also worried about the flooded house such that he would develop shock.
“And about how he eventually died, he just developed a small sickness on the 6th of this month (September) and he was taken to the hospital. He later gave up the ghost on Tuesday evening and was buried on Wednesday. He was such a healthy person and no one thought he would die from the illness but we have accepted it as Allah’s will. So that is how everything happened.”
